*August 6, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Robbie Scott Races With IRS By Jarrod Lehman* Shinnston, WV --- West Virginia dirt Late Model driver Robbie Scott, 30, of Shinnston, WV competed Friday night at Elkins Motor Speedway for the Independent Racing Series (IRS) sanctioned 19th Annual RH Armstrong Memorial. Scott competed in his Rocket Chassis/Mopars by Stanton #18 sponsored by Amos Paving, Atlas Autobody Parts LLC., Patricia Feltz, Walt's Inc., Advance Auto Parts of Shinnston, WV, Hoosier Tire, Rocket Chassis and Scott Sign and Design. Friday we headed off to Elkins Speedway for the IRS race, explained Scott. After a lot of rain in the days leading up to race day the track was in less than desirable conditions. The promoter Brad Hutton and his crew worked diligently to iron out the surface and did a good job considering, my hats off to them for their hard work. We got started qualifying and we were fourth fastest in our group, we started from the pole in the second heat and easily won. We were slated to start sixth in the feature but some bad luck scratched our good friend Rick Williams from the outside pole and moved us up to the 4th spot. We ran third for the first few laps when Charlie George passed us on a restart relegating us back to fourth where we ran until about half way. On a restart I tried getting on the outside of George going up the front stretch and we got hooked together tearing our nose off of the car. Not being able to continue that way without further damaging the car, I just pulled off. I feel like we definitely had a top three car but that's how it goes sometimes. Saturday we decided on skipping the Tyler County show after finding quite a few bent suspension pieces under the car. Congratulations to Jared Hawkins and the Seymour Logging Team on their win, though! This coming weekend Scott and the Mighty Motorsports team will compete at Elkins Motor Speedway on Friday night and then will head north to Pennsylvania on Saturday night for racing at Roaring Knob Speedway. Scott will make a personal appearance on Thursday August 9 starting at 11:00 AM for the annual Race Into Reading program at Lowe Public Library in Shinnston, WV. The team and the car will be appearing at the Lowe Public Library in our hometown of Shinnston, WV once again this year for the Race Into Reading program, commented Scott. My aunt, Debby Starkey, who is also the Head Librarian, has invited us back this year to join her in this program which the library offers throughout the summer months to encourage children to keep up on their reading skills although school is out. The Race Into Reading program will be held on Thursday August 9 at Lowe Public Library located at 40 Bridge Street (across from the Shinnston Municipal Building) in Shinnston, WV beginning at 11:00 AM.
