Shinnston,
WV --- West Virginia dirt Late Model driver Robbie Scott, 30, of Shinnston, WV
competed at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH on Saturday in a World of Outlaws
Late Model Series sanctioned race. Scott drives the Mighty Motorsports Rocket
Chassis/Mopars by Stanton #18 sponsored by Amos Paving, Atlas Autobody Parts LLC.,
Patricia Feltz, Walt's Inc., Advance Auto Parts of Shinnston, WV, Hoosier Tire,
Rocket Chassis and Scott Sign and Design.
On Saturday at Sharon Speedway for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series Buckeye
50 started the evening off by earning $100 for his first career National
Interstate Insurance Fast Time Award with the WoO LMS.
He
recorded a lap of 15.539 seconds in the qualifying session, which began at 9:18
p.m. after the track was run in due to a rain delay.
Finishing fourth in his
heat to qualify for the main event, Scott came home in 14th. Sharon Speedway
is one of the nicest racing venues I have been to and the staff is great,
stated Scott about his weekend. The night started a little wet and after
a short delay we finally got started with qualifying. We were slated to go out
20th of the 38 cars signed in and timed with the fastest time of 15.539.
After
setting fast time we started on the pole of the first heat along side Donnie Moran.
He and I ran neck and neck for the first couple of laps and when we were going
for the lead he got into our right front wheel, toeing the car in about a 1/2".
After that the car wasn't quite as quick but still good enough for 4th in
the heat and a transfer spot into the A-Main.
We started 13th in the feature
and the track was very rough despite the work the track crew put into it all night.
I did not push the car because we do not have the funds and backing to go out
and trash a car on such a rough surface.
So
I just tried to play it cool and try to finish and get some experience.
We bounced back and fourth between tenth and fifteenth or so and ended up
finishing 14th, with the car intact and in pretty good shape compared to a lot
of the other cars.
Overall we were very pleased with our performance especially
considering the caliber of competition we were competing with.
It was a great
experience to race with the World of Outlaw competitors and their staff and I
wish we had the opportunity to do it more often.
Scott and the team
will remain in West Virginia this coming weekend for two special events.
This
weekend we will be competing locally at Elkins Speedway for the IRS Sanctioned
RH Armstrong 50 on Friday and then on Saturday we will be at Tyler
County Speedway for the Earl Hill Memorial and then back to Tyler
County on Sunday for the Hillbilly Qualifier.

Scott will be spotlighted in a feature story in an upcoming issue of Dirt Late
Model magazine.
